A machine, not a modern art installation

The dishwasher is a collaboration between water, detergent and the laws of physics. Plates need space. Spray arms need to turn. A bowl containing another bowl is not an efficient use of space; it is a small waterproof bunker.

Scrape food into the bin, check the appliance instructions and place items where water can reach their dirty surfaces. Face bowls downwards. Keep delicate or unsuitable items out. Wood, some plastics and special finishes may require hand washing: the label outranks this university.
